Sean M. Stewart

Overview

Sean’s practice focuses on real estate, development, land use, and complex business transactions. He represents landowners, investors, developers, and contractors in all aspects of real estate transactions. As a Boulder County Planning Commissioner, Sean has extensive experience working with local government boards, commissions, and entities on entitlements, rezoning, annexations, and other land use matters. He also has expertise in the formation and representation of owners’ associations in the formation and management of common-interest communities.

His business transactional practice includes entity formation, representation, and planning, contract drafting, business financing, asset and stock purchase and sale agreements, and mergers and acquisitions.

He focuses on understanding a client’s needs, forming common sense, strategic plans at the intersection of real estate and business to achieve them. As a Longmont native, his life and practice is community-based, and he enjoys working with local businesses and organizations that help make the Front Range a wonderful place to live and work.

Education & Experience

Sean graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009 where he received a dual degree in English and Ethnic Studies. As an undergraduate, he was involved with the CU club cycling team, and spent a legislative session as an aide in the Colorado General Assembly.

He graduated in 2013 from the University of California Berkeley School of Law with his J.D. During law school, he clerked for the Boulder County Attorney’s Office and Colorado Common Cause.

He began his career as a Deputy District Attorney in Eagle County and the 5th Judicial District. He later joined Stevens Littman Biddison, LLC, a private practice firm located in Vail and Boulder, before joining Lyons Gaddis in 2019. He became a shareholder at Lyons Gaddis in 2023.

Community Involvement

Sean is currently general counsel for the Boulder County Democratic Party, serving as the Legal Team Leader. He has been on the executive committee of the Boulder County Democratic Party in various roles since 2015.

His other current and former community involvement includes:

  • Board of Directors, Early Childhood Council of Boulder County
  • Boulder County Planning Commission
  • Niwot High School Mock Trial, Coach

At the University of California Berkeley School of Law, Sean volunteered with the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project, a legal clinic assisting Iraqis that had assisted the US military and their families in seeking asylum in the United States, and successfully resettled Iraqi clients and their families in two U.S. states.

Sean lives in Longmont with his wife Emily and his two children, Sawyer and Sylvie.
